Sarah Bratbie's creation

Oh, this was fun!  So, first I got some beautiful, soft European mohair in a pale pink, where the backing is much more pink then the fur: perfect!  It's a nice match to Carol Heatherly's stunning, over-the-top, pink, feathered gown with matching feather boa and jeweled waistline:

That's Drake beside the dress.  I nearly got my fingers bitten off when I suggested he try it on!  Some rats don't appreciate clothing, I guess...

I made the nails in white Fimo and then painted them... yicks, next time I'll buy pink Fimo!  The paint chipped off, so I had to do a bit of touching-up and then varnish each one!  What a job!  Here's Drake checking my work:

A "normal" rat consists of 28 separate pieces of fabric, 2 wooden teeth and 20 Fimo nails.  It takes about 32 hours to bring one to life.  Of course, Sarah is much more complicated and already I lost track of the hours I put into her (that's probably a good thing)!

The body is more or less the same as a thin rat but in order to make the dress fit better I elongated the waist just a little bit and lengthened the tail so it sticks out under the folds of the dress a little more noticeably!  Well, what's the point of having a tail if nobody sees it!

Here's Quin reassuring Sarah that although I work (painfully) slowly, I (almost) always finish what I start!  Patience, as they say, is a virtue!

Want to get a better look at that tattoo?  So did Drake (although he's told me in no uncertain terms that he doesn't want one of his own!).  What would a spunky, pink, female rat get tattooed on her thigh?  Well, her first love, of course! And that would be food, and what fine, sophisticated lady doesn't love Brie cheese!  Soft, rich and creamy, firm on the outside, flavourful but not over-powering, what male could possibly compare!?  Silk embroidery threads were used to create this permanent display of her affectionate appetite after designing the image and shaving the necessary area.

Are you sure you don't want to try one on, Drake?  They're really not that uncomfortable and they do wonders for your posture.
